ESG - Environmental, Social, Governance
CPC understands its role as a custodian over our vast rangeland systems. Using latest science and innovation, CPC showcases leadership in understanding its natural systems, characterising flora, and fauna, identifying ecosystem services, such as carbon sequestration, nutrient cycling, provision of habitats, pollination, soil fertility, and identifying best management practice to enhance these areas.
Environment
Producing Nutritional Food
Sustainable beef production provides nutrient-rich foods to a hungry world and manages climate-related risks.
Emission reduction across our herd is managed under a CER Beef Cattle Herd Methodology.
Producing Nutritional Food
Herd Emissions reduced by 20% in FY22, compared to baseline (2015-2018).
Water Stewardship
Pursue continual improvement in understanding weather, climate and our water resources.
We are invested in environmental data collection and finding pathways towards improved water practices.
Water Stewardship
Modelling and testing across 7 projects to understand water dynamics, availability, quality to improve our resilience.
Caring For Our Land
CPC values are ingrained with environmental, social and governance values, where native biodiversity and healthy landscapes are more than meeting compliance standards, sustainability criteria and credentials.
Caring for Our Land
Managing over 3.2 M ha of Rangelands, Native Grasslands, Diverse Landscapes and Improved pastures.
Green Energy
Rollout of solar bore pumps continues to displace fossil fuel power sources.
An ongoing investment in green technology to reduce fossil fuel greenhouse gas emissions (GHG), will continue to create a measurable impact.
Green Energy
Renewable energy rollout with
45 solar pumps (and counting) installed at water points to reduce fossil fuel emissions associated with stationary combustion, as at 2024.
Native Flora and Fauna
Our stewardship practices work to enhance ecosystem services and support healthy, diverse landscapes. This includes managing invasive native and non-native flora. Our Rangeland systems are home to many endemic species. We combine a data-driven approach with field surveys to characterise our ecosystems and their condition.
Native Flora and Fauna
Ecological data collected over 110,000 ha of high focus areas, in 2024.
Partnerships
Tackling complex problems demands a multi-disciplinary approach. This is achieved through research collaborations with both Australian and international academic institutions across a range of climate-related topics; from soils to landscapes.
Partnerships
Research partnerships with Australian and International academic institutions across 3 research streams; soils, genetics, emissions.
Happy Cows
CPC keeps Animal Welfare outcomes front of mind, with investment and education contributing to improved breeding decisions (genetics), improved human–animal interactions ( mustering, horse handling) and improved animal quality of life .
Happy Cows
Genetic evaluation completed on over 1,000 cattle, in 2023.
Nature Projects
Focused on demonstrating our environmental performance through data and technology.
CPC is registered under several projects designed to align with National and Sector climate-related targets. This includes projects to support native vegetation and capturing carbon.
Nature Projects
Regenerating landscapes to capture carbon, estimated to capture 85,000 t CO2 in 2025.
Reducing Waste
Clean air, water and soil is the foundation of healthy landscapes and functioning Rangelands systems. CPC continues to assess options and take action to reduce our use of disposable products by opting for less packaging where applicable.
