Our Stations

CPC has approximately 300,000 head of cattle carrying capacity over 9 properties, covering more than 3.2 million hectares.

Allawah

The 1989 purchase of the noted Allawah Brahman stud underpins an ongoing commitment by CPC to constantly improve the genetics of its stud and commercial herds.

The 3,069 hectare bloodwood forest and brigalow block is situated in a 625 mm rainfall belt, 145 km south of Rockhampton. Its 1,100 stud females produce bulls and females for use in the company’s single sire, stud and commercial breeding programs.

Predominantly based on Australian bloodlines, imported genetics have been infused using embryo transfer and artificial insemination to keep Allawah at the forefront of the stud industry. Performance evaluation is also identified through commercial progeny testing of elite sire lines.

Bunda

In 2015, CPC expanded its operations on Kirkimbie station with the purchase of adjoining Bunda, located in the Western Victoria River Downs region of the Northern Territory. CPC had already been familiar with Bunda for many years, having leased it during the 1990’s and 2000’s. The aggregation of the two properties provided the opportunity to increase productivity, reduce overheads and increase labour efficiencies. It also added valuable fattening country to CPC’s Northern portfolio, allowing CPC to further optimise its herdflow.

Bunda has its own stud complex and a high quality Brahman stud herd. Just under 178,800 hectares in size, the property can carry more than 15,000 cattle. Its mix of country includes high quality black soil plains ideal for fattening cattle on a range of annual and perennial grasses, including Mitchell and Flinders varieties. The land is fenced to allow effective rotational grazing and is well-watered by 22 bores in addition to dams and natural water sources from the Sturt Creek, Bunda Creek and Maud Creek systems.

Carlton Hill

Carlton Hill and Ivanhoe play an integral part in CPCs significant live export market, growing 15,000 – 20,000 steers and heifers a year in readiness for shipping, ex-Wyndham, to Asia and the Middle East.

With a 900 mm annual rainfall, Carlton Hill and Ivanhoe can comfortably support 49,100 head including 20,000 Brahman breeders. Couch and buffel grasses on the aggregation’s alluvial flats and black soil plains also provide an excellent plane of nutrition for growing steers.

Carlton Hill and Ivanhoe joined the Consolidated Pastoral Company stable in 1992.

Dungowan

This 445,400ha breeding property is run in conjunction with Newcastle Waters, situated 160 km away. Comprising 60 per cent open bloodwood forest and 40 per cent lancewood and bullwaddy, Dungowan can carry 17,600 head, branding up to 5,000 calves a year.

After weaning, steers are trucked to either Queensland finishing properties for growing out, sent to neighbouring Newcastle Waters.

Isis Downs

CPC purchased Isis Downs in 1987.

The subsequent acquisition of nine surrounding properties has given CPC a 246,057ha aggregation capable of running 21,000 cattle in favourable seasons. The herd consists of up to 6,000 breeders with the balance being heifers and steers finished for sale to feedlots or the meatworks, depending on the season.

CPC made a decision in 2004 to move out of sheep and use Isis Downs solely for cattle. 6,000 Charolais Brahman cross females are run on Isis with Angus bulls producing cattle for the local trade and feedlot markets.

The Charolais cross females are bred in the Northern Territory and transferred to Isis as required to maintain the breeding herd. An Aberdeen Angus Stud has now been established to breed bulls principally for their own use. The annual turnoff from Isis Downs is now 25,000 depending on the season.

Jimarndy

CPC acquired Jimarndy in October 2022. The increase in CPC’s branding rates and further development of our northern breeding properties requires us to invest further in backgrounding land.

The aggregation comprises of Jimarndy (3646ha/9009 acres), Tawarri (9500ha/23,475 acres), Tandarra (4402ha/10,878 acres), Langley (4,882ha/12,064 acres) and a 4410ha (10,897 acre) forestry lease adjoining the aggregation. CPC intends to invest further in Australian grazing and cropping properties, with the Jimarndy aggregation to be integrated into the CPC portfolio.

The property will primarily take weaners from Wrotham Park Station to grow out into feedlot steers.

Kirkimbie

Kirkimbie became part of CPC in 1986.

Located in the southern Victoria River region, 230,400ha Kirkimbie is an equal mix of Flinders and Mitchell grass covered black soil plains and red spinifex country.

Better genetics and supplementation with mineral licks, to overcome dietary phosphorus deficiencies, has seen Kirkimbie revert from a steer depot to a breeding block carrying 11,000 in total. Steers leave the property at 200 kg to 220 kg liveweight for growing out at Carlton Hill and Argyle prior to export or are sent east for finishing on Queensland properties.

The 5,000 head annual turnoff are finished over the border at Carlton Hill.

Newcastle Waters

Newcastle Waters is a 1,033,101ha breeding property in the west Barkly region of the Northern Territory.

Its open plains, flood country and timbered sand hills can carry 65,700 head of cattle including 20,000 commercial Brahman breeders. The property is home to Newcastle Waters Brahman stud, which comprises 4,000 stud females. Annually the stud produces 1,000 quality, acclimatised herd bulls for CPC’s Northern properties.

Its annual turnoff of 25,000 – 30,000 head are finished according to market demands, with the steer portion being taken at five to seven months for fattening as Jap ox on the Queensland properties or finished on Lake Woods for export to Indonesia via Darwin port.

Santavan Export Yards

Wrotham Park

Wrotham Park Station was purchased by CPC in October 2009 and included 39,000 branded cattle with associated plant and equipment.

Wrotham Park can run approximately 25,000 breeders or around 47,600 head on its rich riverine flats that are the pick of the Peninsula. Located 350km west of Cairns (or 80km west of its local town of Chillagoe), the station has two major river systems, the Mitchell and the Walsh, that make up integral parts of its carrying capacity ensuring a consistent water supply. The remainder is a wide selection of tributary creeks, black soil flats, tea tree sand ridges and timbered country.

The 44 inches of consistent tropical rainfall per annum helps to turnoff weaners for backgrounding by other CPC properties, making Wrotham Park a significant addition to the company property portfolio.

Lampung Feedlot and Farm

PT JJAA was first established in 2000 and now operates two feedlots in Indonesia, located in Lampung (South Sumatera) and North Sumatera.   The Lampung feedlot has a capacity of 19,500 head, while the North Sumatera feedlot has a capacity of 7,500 head; both facilities are “best in class” operations.

JJAA employs 180 people as permanent and contract employees, plus hires up to 400 casual daily workers.

In 2006, in partnership with local partners PT Agro Giri Perkasa , a breeding programme was established at the PT JJAA Lampung feedlot.  Since 2006, 5,000 pregnant Brahman cross cows have been distributed throughout Indonesia supporting the increase in Indonesia’s national cattle population.  In 2010 a Breeding Centre facility was established at the Lampung feedlot. The facility was built to support the Government programme to educate local farmers on cattle management.

As part of corporate social responsibility (CSR) toward surrounding villages, PT JJAA has a number of routine and non routine CSR programmes including providing clean water facilities in each of its surrounding villages, building infrastructure (road and bridge), scholarship programmes and providing financial assistance to the surrounding villages development.
