Mt Marlow
The original Mt Marlow lease was taken up in 1875 in the form of a partnership between the McConnel and the Plantagnet Sommerset families. Being one of the oldest runs on the Barcoo, Mt Marlow has a rich history. In July 1883, Michael Durack set out with 2200 head of cattle purchased from the station to join his brother Patsy on their epic journey to the East Kimberley.
Acquired by Consolidated Pastoral Company in August 2004, this 731 sq km breeding and growing out property is ideally situated to run in conjunction with Isis Downs and Nockatunga. The strong sweet country is naturally watered by a 32 km stretch of the Barcoo River that dissects Mt Marlow with extensive channels and permanent waterholes.
Historically known as a sheep property, Mt Marlow currently runs 5000 head of cattle, including a mob of 1000 breeders, the balance being weaner steers and growing out cattle from the Northern Territory properties.
Cattle thrive on the great variety of fodder available including Mitchell, Flinders, Button, Buffel, prolific herbages, Blue bush and Lignum.
